ABOUT ECEA
The Ethiopian Coffee Exporters' Association (ECEA) is a legally recognized non-profit Association in line with the Registration and Administration of Charities and Societies Proclamation No.168/2009 of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The Association was first established in 1969 by about a dozen members upon whom most of them were foreigners with the prime objective of encouraging the production of quality coffee; promoting coffee export globally; and resolving problems encountered collectively, among others.
Currently, the number of ECEA members has grown to over a hundred. All members of ECEA are Ethiopian nationals. The Association is an active member of Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ) and Eastern African Fine Coffee Association (EAFCA).
ECEA represents over 80% of Ethiopia's coffee exporters who have over 96% market share of the Ethiopian coffee export. As a trade association which has been in the business for over four decades, it is the authentic coffee industry leader vested with the prime responsibility of promoting the Ethiopian coffee in the global market.
The Association provides different services to its members and serves as a focal institution for the working and business relationship between the government and its members; and its members and Ethiopian coffee importers.
The Association is led by a seven-man Board of Directors who is elected by the general assembly every four years. It is managed by a general manager who is directly accountable to the Board of Directors. The General Manager is assisted by supporting staffs who are in charge of Administration and Finance; Public Relations; Marketing; and Q-Grader Coffee Cupper.
